Unlike some sites, we purchase all the games we review ourselves and play through the game before making a review.
This not only allows us to review games in an objective manner without pressure or freebies from game Publishers but it also means we have had a chance to play the game through to give you a rounded review each time. This does mean our reviews come out after the game is released as we await it’s delivery just as a player would.
We could request games from Publishers to do our reviews but then the sense of obligation could be seen to skew our reviews which are impartial. This is also why we do not have any Publisher endorsed advertising on the site so advertising revenue is not the driving force to get a high scoring review.
All reviews are rated out of 5 Stars total, this end score is calculated across a number of areas of the game including; Gameplay, Graphics, Audio, Story, and Value (is the game worth your money?). These criteria are weighted with Gameplay being the most important. The weighting system is then totaled and a final score given to make it easier to see the score at a glance.
All our reviews contain a link to purchase the game being reviewed if you like the sound of a game, this link is what helps fund Inside Gamer and will direct you to your local Amazon website, however we do not rely on the links to run this site and if the game is only available on Steam, Origin or GoG, the link will take you to one of those distribution sites instead.
