Epic Games has published its plans for Fortnite in a “State of Development” blog. One of the standout features is that the Fortnite Battle Royale mode will be bringing an optional 60fps mode to consoles. The increased frame rate on consoles is due later this month and will be an option for mid-cycle upgraded hardware like the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X as well as the earlier machines from the current generation.
Later this month we plan to add an optional 60 FPS mode for Battle Royale on consoles (PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X). This 60 FPS mode is tuned for each console to maximize frame rate while minimizing loss of visual quality.
The developer is also working on optimizations including improving load times with the objective being that of getting players into the action sooner. Combined with these optimizations, Epic is also improving social, audio and matchmaking features among other things. You can check out everything they are doing over on the State of Development blog post.
Also, good news for West Coast US and South American based players, Epic has launched servers for Xbox One on the West Coast of the United States while Brazil-based servers are coming.
Fortnite is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
