When Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds would launch for the Xbox One on the 12th December he added that the Xbox One X version would run at 60fps. Now, he is backtracking on that statement and confirmed that Bluehole is bringing the game to all Xbox One consoles at 30fps.
While I previously stated PUBG would run at higher FPS at XGP launch on 12/12, I want to clarify that PUBG will run at 30 FPS across all @Xbox One devices. We’re constantly refining the game & exploring options to increase FPS, but this early in dev, we’re unable to confirm more.

Previously, Greene had detailed how the Xbox One was able to reach between 30 and 40fps while the Xbox One X was at the 60fps mark. He doesn’t explain why the more powerful console has been locked to 30fps but it could be in the name of fairness when combining the Xbox One and Xbox One X in one game session.
It isn’t clear whether the Xbox One X will get a 60fps upgrade after the game hits Xbox Game Preview and before it fully releases or whether it will be 30fps for all time.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now for PC through Steam Early Access and is coming to Xbox Game Preview on the 12th December.
