Nintendo has released Switch firmware version 4.00 and brings some new features, even if some of them are currently a little limited.
Video capture is the big one, currently, the feature only works in a few games including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2. It isn’t clear whether the limitations are because of publisher restrictions or whether Nintendo plans to roll out the feature gradually and this is just phase one. To capture footage, press and hold the capture button to snap the last 30 seconds of gameplay. Clips can be posted directly to Facebook or Twitter.
Another feature is the ability to transfer your profile and saves to another Switch. This isn’t intended as a cloud save system or as multiple profile use, rather it is to transfer from one console to another such as moving to a replacement or your own Switch if you previously shared one.
Other minor additions include Mario Odyssey profile images, pre-orders on the eShop and general stability updates.
