In the latest Developer Update from Blizzard, Jeff Kaplan explains that Overwatch Deathmatch mode is coming to the game via the Arcade section. Not only that but there will be two varieties. Team Deathmatch (TDM) and Solo-Deathmatch (also known as Free-For-All Deathmatch).
The new game modes don’t just squeeze Deathmatch into the existing game, the leaderboard has been revamped to show the Deathmatch scores. A selection of the maps has also been modified to support Deathmatch mode as well as a brand new map which is home to Widowmaker and comes with jump pads, tight corridors and open areas. Kaplan explains that the map gives some of Widowmakers back story before she became the deadly sniper she is now.
In Team Deathmatch you might think that playing as Mercy is a hindrance. However, whenever Mercy resurrects team mates, it takes the kills away from the opponents for those who she brings back to life.
Being Deathmatch, you want it to be hectic and Blizzard knows this. To help that momentum you can skip the kill cam to get back into the action quicker.
