While Kingdom Hearts 3 is on the horizon with a 2018 release, Xbox One owners haven’t had the opportunity to play the previous games in the franchise. However, according to game director Tetsuya Nomura, Xbox One versions of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix or Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collections could be a possibility in the future.
Speaking at the D23 Expo, Nomura said that while he was open to the idea of bringing the games which have released for PlayStation 4 on the Xbox One, the priority was to get Kingdom Hearts 3 complete first. The main concern for Tetsuya Nomura lies with the market that Xbox One targets, the Western markets. As we know, the Microsoft console has struggled to compete in Asian markets, something which Tetsuya Nomura are aware of.
The same concerns don’t pass over to Kingdom Hearts 3 as the new game features more Disney properties like the recently announced Toy Story world. The previous titles didn’t really have that kind of reach into what Western games as a majority tend to click with.
