Super Mario Odyssey was shown at E3 2017 and got Nintendo fans eager to possess enemies in the open world game. Only, Nintendo doesn’t want you saying the Italian plumber possesses enemies when he goes inside them and controls their movements through the power of a possessed magical hat called Cappy.
The Internet being what it is was quick to highlight this and even released a useful PSA to highlight the difference between Kirby and Mario’s new power.

Nintendo wasn’t too happy with that description and that given by others and highlighted that he instead “captured” them. We aren’t sure being captured means taking on their moustache and being moved by the visiting “captor.”
Um, actually he's been "Captured" by Mario. https://t.co/RNqL1SqAGl

If you aren’t aware, paranormal activity in games is a big no-no in some Asian countries like Japan. So this might explain why Nintendo is trying to distance itself from this terminology.
Super Maio Odyssey launches for the Nintendo Switch on the 27th October 2017.
