Nintendo has announced that the premium Nintendo Switch online services won’t be available until 2018 and it seems that the delay might have something to do with Microsoft.
Previously, Nintendo had announced that the online service would allow you to play a pre-selected NES or SNES game for the month. That particular service is no longer being offered as Nintendo has changed it to a better offer.
Now, Nintendo is looking to offer an Xbox Game Pass style offering where you can play games from a library of titles for as long as you want as long as you stay subscribed.
Subscriptions will be available at the following price points:
- 1 month – $4
- 3 months – $8
- 12 months – $20
This is a much better offer than Nintendo was previously planning to give to subscribers and they have an impressive back catalogue which they could be making available.
Until then, the Switch online services will remain free. The Nintendo Switch is available now although finding one from a retailer is still a chore.
