Speedrunner Cheese05 has managed to clock a sub 100-minute mark time for speedrunning Super Mario 64. He managed the time while steaming on Twitch and set a new record of one hour, thirty nine minutes and fifty seven seconds (1:39:57.68 to be exact) just three seconds under the unthinkable target time of 100-minutes.
To make the feat even more impressive, he managed to collect all 120 stars along the way.
The Nintendo 64 title was originally launched in 1996 meaning it took over 10 years to get a sub 100-minute mark time in the game. Over those years, players have been looking for ways to replicate glitches to save time including a ceiling skipping glitch and the Moat Door Skip which gave access to the basement of the castle while it was still under water.
It isn’t the first time Cheese05 was going for the sub 100-minute time either. About a month ago, he was going for the record time when his Twitch stream speech-to-chat was abused throwing him off his concentration.
