Twitch has announced it is adding new chat feature to the site which allows you to comment on videos that have been uploaded or archived from past broadcasts. The new feature that is being rolled out sounds a lot like the SoundCloud system of leaving messages throughout the content.
When a video is uploaded, usually you would just watch it. With the new feature, you’ll be able to “chat” on the videos on demand. When you do, your chat message will be given a timestamp so your comment will show up in the chat at the moment you were at in the video. So if you see a cool moment, the chat will appear then and not just in a block of text when the video starts.
Content creators will have a full suite of moderation tools like they do with live streams. That means that if someone leaves an offensive message or just gets too spammy, you can take the required action.
The new feature has started rolling out to select channels but it’ll spread across all channels within the coming weeks.
