Paladins: Champions of the Realm has come out of Closed Beta and gone into Open Beta for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The free-to-play MOBA FPS title from Hi-Rez Studios has been in open beta on PC since September and has had over 8.5 million downloads.
To mark the consoles reaching Open Beta status, Hi-Rez has also announced that the first console tournament will take place at DreamHack Valencia 2017 in Spain this July. In the tournament, teams will compete for a prize pool of $50,000. You can find out how to register for the event on the Paladins eSports website.

While the game has been compared to Overwatch, which may or may not be warranted, when we played in the Closed Beta on PC and Xbox One we found the play and differences between the two was enough to have Paladins feeling fresh enough and an enjoyable experience. If you write off the game as a “clone” then you are doing yourself a disservice if you enjoy games like Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch, plus Paladins is free-to-play so you can’t go wrong for free.
Paladins: Champions of the Realm is available now for Mac, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
