Blizzard is having a bad Easter it seems as its online authentication services are currently down preventing players from getting online. The problem started over six hours ago and is still happening.
It is preventing players from getting on all of the games like World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo III, Hearthstone and StarCraft II. It has also reached PlayStation 4 and Xbox One servers hosting Overwatch which Blizzard took offline. The issue has also caused Blizzard to take down Customer Support until the situation is resolved.
The developer hasn’t explained why the services are offline but one Tweet sounded pretty ominous in terms of what was going on.
Due to an outage, game servers were taken offline to ensure the safety of the hardware. We are working to bring services back online.

Usually, if you are taking the hardware off the load balancers and shutting things down, things have gotten really bad. It could point fingers at a DDoS attack that is ongoing, a problem at the datacentres such as power related issues or a serious bug from some changes the developer made. It is likely to be the former because who in their right mind would make a system change on a Sunday.
