During a StarSeries Season 3 match between Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) and G2, a notorious grenade glitch reared its head in the group stage which saw G2 proceed to the next round.
To understand what happened, first, we need a little bit of background to the glitch. In CS:GO, when you throw a Molotov there is a chance that a Smoke Grenade can put it out. It doesn’t happen all the time so it isn’t clear whether it is meant to. One thing that is known for sure is that when smoke glitches through a wall, it shouldn’t affect the fire induced by the Molotov.
That is exactly what happen through. When a G2 player threw a Molotov into a stairwell to block the advancing NiP, a Smoke Grenade clipped through the wall and extinguished the fire. Ninjas In Pyjamas took advantage of the glitch to take the round but it wasn’t ultimately enough as G2 won over Ninjas In Pyjamas 16 rounds to 6.
