Peter Molyneux is working on a new project called Legacy. Unlike his usual way of promising lots early and often, Legacy is something which Molyneux has said he isn’t ready to talk about yet.
Molyneux is a great salesman, coming in heavy on past projects with promises of grandeur which then fail to emerge when the final game gets released.
Molyneux recently held an interview with Glixel who asked what Legacy was. To that, he responded, “I think it would be a mistake to talk about it.” When Glixel pushed for whether that was to do with not over-promising like he has in the past, he says
The only thing I think is wise to tell you is that it’s very different. One of the things I am proud of is the number of different genres that I’ve attempted. At the moment, it’s hard to peg what genre Legacy falls into.
Glixel also dug into Molyneux’s past decisions and it seems that he has potential regrets over numerous steps in his career.
Should I have left Microsoft? I’m not sure I should have. Should I have sold Lionhead to Microsoft? I’m not sure I should have. Should I have sold Bullfrog Productions to Electronic Arts? I’m not sure I should have.
