Blizzard has plans to drop the Battle.net branding and came one step closer today after updating the desktop app which removed the Battle.net logo and replacing it with Blizzard’s own logo. This represents one part of Blizzard’s move to drop Battle.net branding which it announced back in September.
Apart from the change in branding to the desktop app, nothing else really changed. The layout, functionality and account system is identical to how it was previously. The only obvious change is the logo in your taskbar when the app is running as well as the logo in the top left of the app. That should mean that most users of the desktop app won’t notice the transition which is how it should be to be player friendly.
Battle.net still exists and continues to work, but for how long we aren’t sure.
