DotEmu and Lizardcube are bringing back the classic Wonder Boy with Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. He will also be joined by Wonder Girl as we found out in a new trailer.
Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, Ben Fiquet, co-founder and art director at Paris-based Lizardcube said
Over the past few months we’ve showcased the various half-animal, playable characters, along with the popular Retro feature. But we haven’t yet revealed the new human hero design, and speculation has been rampant.
There’s a simple explanation for keeping the character’s identity a secret: we wanted it to be a surprise. But now it’s time for the grand unveiling.
Along with Wonder Boy in his classic form, you can now play as the totally awesome, totally radical Wonder Girl!
Originally Wonder Boy was developed by Westone Bit Entertainment and released by SEGA, DotEmu and Lizardcube have taken on the duties to release the new version.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 18th April. A PC version is in development but there is currently no release date set.
