Speedrunner, Venick409 has set a new record beating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with an “any%” run of 49 minutes and 43 seconds. This is 34 seconds faster than his previous best of 50:17.
The feat was made possible by playing through the tutorial section and then making his way towards the end. This is more difficult than you might think, some of the foes you meet while making your way to the end can one shot you ending your attempt at a fast run.
During the speedrun, Venick409 not only had a known texture glitch appear towards the end of the run, but he also had a few alcohol based drinks along the way.
He does, however, use a potentially controversial technique which some purists might take issue with, he uses the Smash Bros. Link Amiibo which spawns Epona into the game. He also drops the game into German, that in itself saves 10 seconds.
