Razer, the company behind hardware and peripherals is expanding its operations into processing payments for other companies. The company has announced the zVault virtual currency platform.
The zVault virtual currency is looking to be the go-to option for paying for online services and goods. You can top up your account by purchasing zGold with PayPal, credit cards, debit cards, Openbucks, or Paysafecard. Then you simply pay for your service with the zGold by selecting the “Pay With Razer” button on supporting sites. You can currently update your account balance with the purchase of zGold packs in the values of 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 denominations. 100 zGold is the equivalent to $1 USD.
In exchange for using the service, you earn zSilver which can then be used towards Razer offers and rewards.
Min-Liang Tan, CEO and co-founder of Razer, said in a statement
The introduction of zVault is all about giving value to gamers with secure payment convenience and a great rewards program. This is much more than a club or credit card perks program or micro-transaction solution. Our ultimate vision is a complete gamer economy expanding from the zVault ecosystem. It’s social, interactive, and truly useful, opening the doors to a safer way of doing business and an expansive rewards market for our fans.
Services currently using zVault payments are Hi-Rez Studios (Smite and Paladins), with Smilegate West (CrossFire, Lost Saga) are currently accepting zGold. Game stores including as IndieGala and GamersGate are also accepting the payment method.
Osama Deeb, Smilegate West’s global payments and partnerships lead, said in a statement
Smilegate West is delighted to increase the mutually beneficial collaboration with Razer and making our product catalog available to an even wider audience than before. As a gamer-focused payment option, Razer zGold will allow Smilegate West to tap into more than 22 million gamers that are already part of the Razer network.
Trion Worlds are also looking to implement the system for its six games in the near future. Scott Hartsman, CEO of Trion Worlds said
Trion and Razer’s audiences are one and the same: tens of millions of dedicated gamers around the world. It makes perfect sense to expand our amazing partnership with Razer to include the zVault payment and rewards program. We love finding great new ways for our players to earn additional rewards.
To get started with zVault, head over to the official website and sign up. If you register with your Razer ID and verify your address now, Razer will credit your account with 2,000 zSilver. They’ll also boost your zGold by up to 30% on wallet top-ups for a limited time.
