Windows phone 10 has finally received the long awaited Minecraft Pocket Edition update that iOS and Android had previously gotten.
The update brings the Windows phone 10 version in line with the other platforms by adding Achievements as well as getting the update that adds Minecraft’s The End region, and the Realms multiplayer functionality.
With the Realms update, you will be able to play on official Mojang servers with iPhone, Android and Windows 10 PC players.
The announcement of the release reads
We stopped shipping Minecraft updates for Windows Phone 8 back in October last year. Of course, players can still carry on building and exploring their worlds as they always have, but, to get access to the newest Minecraft goodies, DLC and other fun stuff, you’ll have to upgrade to the Windows 10 Mobile version of the game.
If you were already running Windows 10 Mobile but playing the Windows Phone 8 version of Pocket Edition, you’ll get the upgrade automatically, too.
That means that Windows Phone 8 users will need to update to Windows Phone 10 to be able to get the latest update. Those already on the latest OS will get the update for free.
Minecraft Pocket Edition is available for Windows Phone 10 for $6.99 / £5.39 / 6,89€.
