In March 2016, the CD Projekt RED forums were hacked but at the time there was little more information on how wide the impact reached. Now, the number of accounts that were compromised has been revealed.
Details on HaveIBeenPwned.com state that 1,871,373 email addresses, IP addressed, usernames and passwords were taken. The passwords were salted SHA-1, a now obsolete encryption method being phased out by service providers.
Members of the CD Projekt RED forums are urged to change their passwords as well as updating information and login credentials for sites using the same email and password combination, just to be on the safe side.
