Playtonic Games has confirmed that Yooka-Laylee will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in a recent backer update on Kickstarter.
The project was previously cancelled for the Wii U with the team stating that they were investigating the possibility of it heading to the Switch. Now, those investigations appear to have been completed with the answer being that yes, it is coming to the new Nintendo console.
We continue to work closely with Nintendo on plans for a Nintendo Switch version of Yooka-Laylee and more details will be revealed in the future. We’d like to thank our many Nintendo fans for their continued patience and understanding while we form our plans: we hope to make your platform of choice a great place to experience Yooka-Laylee in the future! Note:
Upon release, the Switch version will be delivered to backers via digital game codes and thus no additional upgrade cost is required.
Wii U backers that don’t plan on getting a Switch, don’t want a PC version or simply changed their mind about the game will be able to request a refund.
Playtonic Games is also offering Wii U backers to change their platform of choice to PlayStation 4, Xbox One or the Switch version when it is available. Those that don’t pick a new platform will be given the PC version via Steam.
