People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has decided that the Games Workshop’s Warhammer characters should not be wearing animal pelts.
The UK arm of the organisation sent a letter to Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree calling on him to end adorning its Warhammer 40,000 warriors with furs. One of the table top games’ viking-esque group called Space Wolves wear the pelts as part of their battle armour.
The animal activists acknowledge that the animals and characters are fictional but feels that fur isn’t a fashion choice in 40,000.
While we appreciate that they are fictional, draping them in what looks like a replica of a dead animal sends the message that wearing fur is acceptable – when, in fact, it has no more place in 2017 than it would in the year 40,000.
PETA themselves are known for euthanising dogs and cats making any claim they have regarding fictional characters even more hypocritical.
