9.51% of Resident Evil 7 players took to PlayStation VR to play the latest in the horror franchise according to the Resident Evil 7 Global Statistics page. That is 86,192 players out of 906,633 global players that have joined the game and sent telemetry back to Capcom.
The PlayStation VR is the only virtual reality headset supported right now. It isn’t known if HTC Vive and Oculus Rift will get murderous virtual reality support in future or whether Sony has signed a deal with Capcom to keep it exclusive.
It isn’t smooth sailing for the virtual world of Resident Evil though, a number of players have reported motion sickness during play.
Capcom has announced that it has shipped over 2.5 million copies of the game but hasn’t clarified whether that was sell-in or sell-through. Sell-in being the units they have sold to retailers, Sell-through is what has managed to sell to a customer. It also doesn’t mention whether that includes digital sales.
Resident Evil 7 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
