French publisher Ubisoft has acquired Leamington Spa, UK based FreeStyle Games from Activision.
The developer previously handled Activision titles like the DJ Hero series and more recently, Guitar Hero Live. When the return to music rhythm games with Guitar Hero Live failed to meet expectations the studio released a number of employees. The studio then went on to help Activision with other franchises like the China-focused Call of Duty Online.
With Ubisoft’s acquisition, the studio got a name change wand is now known as Ubisoft Leamington.
In the announcement, it was highlighted that the studio would work with Newcastle-based Ubisoft Reflections. Reflections is currently working on supporting development efforts for The Crew and The Division. It is also the home of Grow Home.
Richard Blenkinsop will be serving as Managing Director for the new studio to which he said
