Nintendo 64 classic, Pokémon Snap is coming to the Wii U Virtual Console in North America starting on the 5th January 2017.
The game has been available for Japan and Europe based Wii U players for months but now it is a chance for North America players to grab it. The game will cost $9.99, the same as it did on the Wii Virtual Console but this version will also be compatible with the Wii U GamePad, something the Wii Virtual Console version didn’t support.
While Wii U GamePad gets additional support, it doesn’t make use of all of the devices features. You won’t be able to use the built-in gyroscope to take photos for example. Instead, while travelling through the game, you’ll need to use the joystick controls to pick your focal point.
The Pokémon spinoff series is quickly approaching its 18th Anniversary but has never had a sequel. While Nintendo has never made a Pokémon Snap sequel it hasn’t prevented fans of the series to petitioned the company via Reddit to make it happen. Although attempts to make Nintendo take note and acknowledge the request have so far been fruitless.
