At a panel event at PSX 2016, Hideo Kojima confirmed that Death Stranding would be running on the Decima Engine which was developed by Guerrilla Games.
Kojima Productions will be using the fellow PlayStation developers technology which is being used for its own game for PlayStation 4, Horizon Zero Dawn.
Kojima was joined on stage by Mark Cerny and Managing Director for Guerrilla Games, Hermen Hulst to discuss how the partnership came about. According to Cerny, it took a couple of weeks for him and Kojima to find the right tools to make Death Stranding before setting on those offered by Guerrilla Games.
Also, while the majority of Kojima Productions will be working on Death Stranding, a small team of developers from the studio will be formed within Guerrilla Games in Amsterdam.
Perhaps this was one of the reasons why Kojima was visiting Electronic Arts’ Stockholm-based DICE back in May to check out what Frostbite could offer?
It’s been 8 years since I visited DICE last time. Brilliant team that got technology, environment, people & vision. pic.twitter.com/FXdV9KSVJf
