Hideo Kojima’s in development title, Death Stranding, isn’t likely to ever make an appearance on Xbox. When a partnership between Kojima and Sony was announced, some speculated that the deal would mean a timed exclusive release for Sony’s machines. That doesn’t seem to be the case though based on new information.
In the two game posters that Hideo Kojima Tweeted out yesterday, there is some interesting fine print. At the very bottom the text reads
Death Stranding is a trademark of Sony Interactive Entertainment America LLC.
That text suggests that it is Sony that owns the intellectual property rights to Death Stranding and not Kojima Productions itself. This ownership of IP is likely a part of the deal between Sony and Kojima.
As Sony seems to own the rights to the game, it is extremely unlikely that it will make its way to Microsoft’s consoles. It may still see a PC release, though.
Also, it has been confirmed that both Del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen are involved with the game.
