Stardew Valley is heading to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before the end of the year but it won’t be making it to the Wii U and will instead release on the Nintendo Switch.
The developer Eric Barone, aka ConcernedApe, spoke with Xbox Wire about the console release
I spent over four years developing Stardew Valley, inspired by games that I loved as a child such as Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. Although the idea of a “farming RPG” might have seemed odd at first, the games were very addictive and had a heartwarming charm that stuck with me. With Stardew Valley, my goal was to recreate that special feeling and bring it to modern platforms.
Initially penned for a Wii U release, the decision was made to instead release the game for Nintendo’s new console, the Switch.
Stardew Valley is currently available for PC and releases for PlayStation 4 in North America on the 13th December followed by PlayStation 4 Europe and Xbox One global release on the 14th December.
