McDonalds in the UK is to start selling Nintendo Happy Meals featuring the company mascots starting in early 2017 to coincide with the promotion of the Nintendo Switch. Starting on the 11th January and running until the 7th February, the Nintendo Happy Meals will include balloons, activities and an eBook promotion. The news comes through leaked advertisements which Nintendo Life managed to pick up from a site regular.
There will be a total of six balloons, five of which features characters from Super Mario and a Flick Flack paper activity which directs kids on folding paper in just the right way. One set of these Flick Flack directions will apparently form Yoshi.
The box the meals come in also feature a Nintendo Power Up challenge to find Yoshi who is hidden on the box, making the little green guy a lizard version of Where’s Wally/Waldo?
Mario and pals aren’t strangers to the fast food chains kids-meals, this will be the third time they have featured in the UK Happy Meals.
We are sure that in time, there will be the usual “outrage” from people who never frequent McDonalds about how teaming Mario and Happy Meals is corrupting the youth or some other overblown claims.
