Uwe Boll has decided to call it a day after saying making movies “isn’t financially profitable anymore.”
Boll told Metro News
The market is dead. You don’t make any money anymore on movies because the DVD and BluRay market worldwide has dropped 80 percent in the last three years. That is the real reason; I just cannot afford to make movies. I can’t go back to student filmmaking because I have made so many movies in my life, and I can’t make cheaper and cheaper movies at my age. It’s a shame. I would be happy to make movies but it is just not financially profitable.
Boll has taken video game franchises and took them to the big screen including Postal (8% rating), Dungeon Siege (4% rating), Alone in the Dark (1% rating), BloodRayne (4% rating) and House of the Dead (4% rating). All of them generally missed the mark as is usually the case with most game to movie adaptations not just those from Boll.
Boll, though, wasn’t known for taking criticism of his movies very well. He challenged critics to boxing matches, he won all four of the matches when the critics accepted his challenge.
