Playground Games have started making good on their promise of banning players abusing game glitches or using mods in Forza Horizon 3 PC.
Players caught using a range of glitches or cheats to get the upper hand in the open world racer are finding they are getting a 30-year ban from Xbox Live and prevents playing the game online.
Obviously, as is always the case when the ban hammer is swung, some are pleading innocence on the Forza subreddit. We aren’t saying that every single one of them is guilty of abusing the system but we can bet that a number of “I didn’t do anything wrong” comments are coming from those who definitely did something wrong.
One Reddit user, /u/Sugar_Free_Nos was streaming the Forza Horizon 3 PC version at the time. The ban occurs at around the 4-minute mark.
Of course, a ban isn’t necessarily instant. So what Sugar_Free_Nos did in his Stream isn’t guaranteed to cover what they received the ban for and could have happened hours, days or weeks prior.
Sugar_Free_Nos may legitimately have been caught up in a False Positive which Playground Games and Microsoft will need to manage and address quickly.
Some cheats include the “drift tap glitch” which sees the game awarding Ultimate Drift skill points even when the vehicle is practically stationary. This particular glitch can earn as much as 1 million XP in 15 minutes. Other abuses of the system include using mods to unlock everything without playing through the game to earn the required XP.
Forza Horizon 3 is available now on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One.
