Possibly our favorite Battlefield title, 2142 is back in action thanks to a fan-made project called Battlefield 2142 Revive that brings the game back online. Battlefield 2142 went offline in 2014 when GameSpy closed its doors taking 2142’s matchmaking and statistics with it.
The 2006 DICE shooter followed the massively popular Battlefield 2, which also went offline when GameSpy closed, but received less fanfare and was largely looked over by Battlefield players due to its futuristic setting. Those who did play it tend to remember it fondly and DICE has even made some nods to the game with their Battlefield 4 Final Stand DLC.
