The Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega+ will be shipping out to those who backed the IndieGoGo campaign at the £100 mark starting on the 20th October according to Retro Computers Ltd.
The Vega+ reached £431,445 funding, 367 percent over its campaign goal back in March 2016. It had been expected to release this month but Retro Computers Ltd is confident to have the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega+ for sale online by Christmas 2016 after fulfilling backer rewards.
The Vega+ has had a rocky development with a year filled with team resignations and legal incidents. Retro Computers Ltd recently took legal action against Cornerstone Media International Ltd who were responsible for national sales release of the Vega. The agreement between the two companies was terminated in July and the lawsuit focused on the ownership of the intellectual property on both the Vega and Vega+ among other things.
Dr David Levy of Retro Computers Ltd said
For the past five months our company’s new management team has spared no effort to bring the Vega+ into production under very difficult circumstances, and to secure Vega+ a sales and marketing agreement with a substantial company in the consumer electronics field. We are very confident that with the manufacturing strengths of SMS and the worldwide reach of our new sales and marketing partners, the Vega+ will be a huge and long-lived success.
The Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega+ is endorsed by Sir Clive Sinclair himself and comes with 1,000 licensed games built in, there is no word on planned pricing when the device goes on sale later this year.
