Hello Games has confirmed that there will be a No Man’s Sky server reset on Sunday ahead of the game launch next week.
On Sunday, 7th August 2016 the No Man’s Sky server reset will put everyone on a level playing field when the game releases to the masses.
Harry Denholm, Programmer at Hello Games confirmed the reset over Twitter

The wipe will reset all of the “discovery online storage” meaning that anyone who got the game early will no longer have the planets names. This also means that players will have all of the planets to be claimed and explored.
Neither Sony or Hello Games has been pleased with the fact that some have managed to obtain the game early. Some publications like Polygon had also been streaming the game and received takedown notices against their videos. A day one patch is also on the cards so Hello Games isn’t keen to have the game without the latest updates shown as Sean Murray said “it’s not what players will experience.”
If you are reviewing/playing our game without our update, on a leaked copy, then please don’t. It’s not what players will experience.
