On Tuesday 26th July, Bethesda will be releasing the latest addon for Fallout 4 in the form of the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC.
In the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC, you get to be your very own Overseer of Vault 88. After grabbing the content and passing level 20 in game, you will hear a distress beacon regardless of where you are in the world. When investigating, you’ll find Raiders trying to gain entry into the vault. Vault 88 has one remaining survivor who has turned into a ghoul but still has loyalty to Vault-Tec and is eager to experiment on unsuspecting dwellers.
At this point, Vault 88 is pretty empty, to change that you need to interview prospective vault residents. Once you have settlers in the Vault, you do what all Vault-Tec Overseers would do, run experiments. What kind of experiments is up to you, you can be kind and treat the settlers well or you can go the other way and put them through grueling and cruel experiments.
Kurt Kuhlmann, Lead Designer on Vault-Tec Workshop commented on the new content
This is the first Workshop add-on that actually has quests associated with it. Because this one happens in a specific place – you actually have a location, not just some things to play with – we could attach quests to it that really make sense as part of the offered content.
If you are up for a real challenge, you can take on the Vault 88 tasks before hitting level 20. However, the area is level 25 so if you go there any earlier, you likely won’t survive long.
As with above ground settlements, you can build and customise your Vault as you see fit. With new building blocks available, you can create a unique layout or just go for something more basic and generalised.
With the variety of pieces you have, I’m pretty sure you could build any kind of Vault you want. And there’s no reason why you have to build it in the interior space. We just want to see what kind of cool stuff you come up with when you have access to all these new tools.
Vault-Tec Workshop Lead Artist Ryan Sears added
We’re really excited to see everyone’s take on a Vault. We want to know what the community can do with everything they have access to, and how they integrate it with other non-Vault pieces. Even prior to this add-on we’ve seen a lot of really awesome settlements that throw things together in surprising ways. And that’s the cool thing for us as developers – seeing how people use what we give them in in ways we don’t expect.
Vault-Tec Workshop releases on Tuesday 26th July for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Fallout 4 is available on the same three platforms.
