US State Department Spokesman John Kirby, not the little pink fellow from Nintendo, caught a reporter checking his Pokémon Master training during a press briefing on ISIS.
Kirby caught the reporter eyeing his mobile during a statement and called him out on it by saying “You’re playing the Pokémon thing right there, aren’t you?” The reporter was apparently “Just keeping an eye on it.”
Carrying on with the press conference like a pro, Kirby returned to the reporter afterwards asking whether the reporter had caught one. The reporter responded “No. The signal is not very good.” which Kirby promptly apologised for. We have a feeling he wasn’t being sincere, though.
The identity of the reporter or media outlet they represented hasn’t been disclosed but it is likely they might receive some words of caution on where it is and isn’t suitable to play Pokémon GO.
