Microsoft has confirmed that the launch edition of the Xbox One S will be available starting on the 2nd August 2016.
While three versions of the console will be available; a 500GB version for $299, a 1TB version for $349 and a 2TB version for $399, only the 2TB version will be available on day one. The release dates for the smaller capacity HDD versions will be announced at a later date.
The Xbox One S not only slims down the Microsoft console, it adds support for 4K (3,820×2,160-pixel) resolution for films and BluRay on TV’s that support the resolution, it does not support 4K gaming. Games will, however, benefit from the additional feature of High Dynamic Range (HDR). This means you will see more detail in dark and light areas of games from the truest blacks to the brightest whites.
The Xbox One S will initially be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and the US.
