Blizzard has lifted the lid on Overwatch’s latest Hero addition, Ana. As one of Overwatch’s founding members she is coming out of retirement and providing health support for the others.
Ana has a biotic rifle while allows her to heal allies or deal damage over time to the opposition.
With her signature moves she can help keep the team moving while slowing down the enemy.
- Biotic rifle – Ana’s rifle shoots darts that can restore health to her allies or deal ongoing damage to her enemies. She can use the rifle’s scope to zoom in on targets and make highly accurate shots.
- Biotic Grenade – Ana tosses a biotic bomb that deals damage to enemies and heals allies in a small area of effect. Affected allies briefly receive increased healing from all sources, while enemies caught in the blast cannot be healed for a few moments.
- Sleep Dart – Ana fires a dart from her sidearm, rendering an enemy unconscious (though any damage will rouse them).
- Nano Boost – After Ana hits one of her allies with a combat boost, they temporarily move faster, deal more damage, and take less damage from enemies’ attacks.
On the Battle.net forums, Community Manager Lylirra has some words for those planning to stock up on Loot Boxes in anticipation of Ana.
Now that we’ve revealed our upcoming hero, Ana, we know that some of you may want to try to prepare for her arrival either by stocking up on Loot Boxes or holding off on opening the ones you already have.
Before you do that, though, please remember the following: Loot Box contents are generated at the time that they earned or purchased, NOT when they are opened.
This means that any Loot Box you earn or purchase now, or at any point before Ana is released, will not have a chance to contain her cosmetic items. Only those Loot Boxes that are earned or purchased after she is live and playable on your gaming platform will be eligible for her skins, sprays, voice lines, hero emotes, etc. (This is how the system will continue to work for future content updates, too.)
Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the exact timing for Ana to make her way into the roster, she is however expected in all versions as a free update by the end of July.
Overwatch is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
