Chinese Internet giant, Tencent is using $8.5 billion to buy a majority stake in Clash of Clans’ Supercell.
Tencent bought the 73% stake in Helsinki, Finland based company from Japans SoftBank. This will mean that Tencent’s consortium now owns about 84% of the developer with the rest belonging to Supercell’s own employees. The deal values the mobile game developer at about $10.2 billion.
The deal gives Tencent access to more than 100 million daily players in some of the iOS and Adnroid stores top games, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Boom Beach and Hay Day.
