Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has announced that the production of Xbox 360 is coming to an end after more than a decade of the console.
Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft. And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.
Support for the machine and its services isn’t coming to an end though as Spencer confirmed Xbox Live, group chat, apps and even Games with Gold will still be available.
At the last official release of figures around the middle of 2013, the console had sold over 78.2 million units globally.
So if you want Microsoft’s most popular console to date, now is the time to pick one up while the retail channel stock still remains.
