Codemasters has expanded its team by acquiring all of the Evolution Studios team after Sony announced the DriveClub developer would be closing.
Evolution Studio’s experience with DriveClub and MotorStorm made the developers an obvious choice for the F1 and DIRT series publisher.
Codemasters CEO Frank Sagnier commented
The success of F1 2015 and Dirt Rally over the last 12 months has re-positioned the company for growth. The addition of the Evolution team to our studio group will allow us to scale our business and strengthen our leadership as the world’s premier racing game developer.
Evolution Studio’s former studio director, Mick Hocking will pick up the role of VP of product development.
Evolution will officially be part of the Codemasters stable on the 25th April and while you shouldn’t expect DriveClub or MotorStorm to suddenly appear on Xbox or PC, there is the promise of a new racing IP which will be multi-platform.
