Stockholm Sweden-based artist, Rense de Boer has used a technique known as photogrammetry to create photo realistic environments in Unreal Engine 4.
The process involves taking many photographs of real objects and locations and then using the data from those photographs to build 3D models and environments.
In the video below you can see a short clip of his work being rendered in real time through the Unreal Engine 4 that he used. It is recommended that you watch the video in 1080p60 to get the most from the video.
Rense de Boer is currently working with the photo realistic environments to make a fully playable experience that you will be able to use with 4K displays and virtual reality headsets.
