People who pre-order Quantum Break from UK retailer GAME will notice that their bundle is different from others. This is because the retailer is substituting Alan Wake: American Nightmare for Kameo: Elements of Power which is playable on Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility.
The reason for the swap isn’t the retailer pulling some kind of elaborate bait and switch but because of the rating system. Quantum Break has a PEGI rating of 16 while Alan Wake: American Nightmare has a PEGI rating of 18. Kameo: Elements of Power meanwhile has a PEGI rating of 12+.
In a statement, GAME said
Unfortunately there’s been a slight change to our pre-order offer. Quantum Break is rated PEGI 16, but Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is PEGI 18. This means that we can’t include it as part of our offer, as it’s rated higher than the game being sold. We’re really sorry! To make up for it, we’d like to offer you a code for Kameo: Elements of Power, an epic Xbox 360 game now playable on Xbox One. We’ll send this over to you via email at the launch of Quantum Break.
If you really want Alan Wake: American Nightmare though, you can still obtain the original bundle from GAME by simply visiting your local retailer and showing ID confirming you are over 18 and they will gladly give you the Alan Wake: American Nightmare option.
Quantum Break launches on PC and Xbox One on the 5th April 2016.
