Daybreak Games has announced that after “much review and consideration” the development of EverQuest Next is coming to an end.
Russ Shanks, President of Daybreak Games put the decision down to the fact the team “found that it wasn’t fun” and that in games development “cancellations are a reality we must face from time to time.”
As for the future of EverQuest itself, Shanks wrote
The future of the EverQuest franchise as a whole is important to us here at Daybreak. EverQuest in all its forms is near and dear to our hearts. EverQuest and EverQuest II are going strong. Rest assured that our passion to grow the world of EverQuest remains undiminished.
If you want to take part in the discussion, Daybreak Games have created an EverQuest Next thread on the announcement on their forums. As you can imagine, some comments are not favourable regarding the decision but some are hoping it means better things for Landmark which launches this Spring.
Did you try EverQuest Next, if so what were your thoughts? Was it fun or did it leave you wanting something more engaging?
