Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division has sold more copies in the first 24 hours than any other title in the publishers history.
Not only is it the fastest selling overall, it broke the Ubisoft record for total digital full game sales in a single day on all three platforms the game launched for.
With this record sales, Ubisoft now holds three of the top four most successful new IP launches in games history. Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs make up the other two if the three slots. Only Destiny by Bungie beat the new franchises to the number one spot.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said
The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivalled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters. This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.
Ubisoft Massive Managing Director David Poldeldt added
We’re extremely happy with The Division’s record-breaking launch. The Division really represents Ubisoft at its best, with the Massive team and all the teams at our associate studios working at maximum capacity in highly-productive collaboration to deliver an incredibly innovative and entertaining new game.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
