Blizzard has followed up on an apparent leak of information and confirmed that the Overwatch Open Beta will take place from the 5th-9th May and that the game will release on the 24th May.
For players wanting to jump in to the Open Beta, you can also get a head start by pre-ordering which will grant access to you and a friend between the 3rd and 4th May. Pre-Orders must have been placed before the 29th April.
The Open Beta will grant access to all 21 heroes and every map that the game will launch with giving you a chance to experience the entire game if you are on the fence about buying it. Any progression you make will be wiped before the games release so you won’t be able to carry over your unlocks and stats.
Xbox Live Gold is required to play the Open Beta, PlayStation Plus isn’t required for the beta period but is required for the full game when it launches.
The Overwatch Open Beta will run on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the same three platforms that Overwatch will release for come the 24th May.
