Wonder Boy in Monster Land creator Ryuichi Nishizawa has announced Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom will arrive later this year.
The spiritual successor to the classic game was originally names Flying Hamster 2 and had a Kickstarter campaign before a deal was struck with publisher, FDG.
In a licensing deal, the hamsters were removed and replaced with Wonder Boy characters, assets, sounds and music from the franchise.
In Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon’s Trap, you could transform into other animals to solve puzzles, that feature lives on as you can see in the debut gameplay trailer below.
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is due for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
