The Xbox One Elite Controller launched back in October with what some found to be a steep $150 price tag and soon after launch, they were sold out. This led many to believe that the new controller was a limited production run even though new stock was hitting stores weekly.
However Microsoft’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Capossela has told Windows Weekly that the reason the controller was so hard to get your hands on was because of one simple reason
Here’s the product we totally underestimated. If I could have built 10 times the number I built, I would have. We got that feedback at E3 that it was awesome, but maybe the price was a little too high, and so that influenced how many we produced.
We have an Xbox One Elite Controller ourselves and it is hands down the best controller we have used in recent times. Weighty and solid it feels good in your hands while offering customization options not seen in an Official Xbox Controller before. The biggest hurdle in using the new controller is getting used to the paddles next to the hand grips and not gripping the controller to the point of pressing the paddles accidentally. Going back to the standard Xbox One controller is akin to going back to the Xbox 360 controller after using the Xbox One variant.
The Xbox One Elite Controller is currently out of stock in most places but you can get on Amazon lists to be informed when new stock arrives.
