Versus Evil has taken the unusual step of not only pulling Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma from PlayStation 4 and Steam sales but also removing it from the game libraries of those who had purchased the game and given automatic refunds.
Versus Evil made the tough decision after labeling the launch as a “failure”.
GM Steve Escalante explained
The game was a failure. We could not do, in good conscience, volume 2 and volume 3.So we’ve begun the process, it’s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we’re returning all the money. So across the board we’re putting out an apology saying ‘sorry about this.’
Afro Samurai 2 received a rating of just 21 on Metacritic for PlayStation 4 with too few reviews of the PC version to obtain an average but the two reviews gave it 30/100 and 0/100 for PC. The reason for the low scores were that the game simply felt “broken”.
