Sony has dropped the price of the PlayStation 4 in North America ahead of the holiday shopping period.
In the USA, a PlayStation 4 will now set you back USD $349 instead of USD $399 which puts the machine on price parity with the Xbox One. In Canada, the PlayStation 4 will go from CAD $450 to CAD $430. This follows an earlier price drop in Japan.
Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden commented
Our goal at PlayStation has always been to offer the best place to play at a compelling value to gamers. We’re continuing to deliver on that commitment with this new price for PS4, making the console even more accessible to a broader audience this holiday. With highly anticipated games like Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Star Wars Battlefront launching soon and blockbuster exclusives like UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End on the horizon, there has never been a better time to join the PS4 community.
There is no news on a UK or European price cut to the PlayStation 4 at this time.
PlayStation 4’s are available now and the price cut will take effect from the 9th October.
